Harcourt Inns.

London’s cosiest gastropubs, helmed by masterchef Henry Harris.

My grandparents ran a pub on Brixton Hill in the 1960s, so I’d always wanted to work on a pub project. Not your average London boozers, Harcourt Inns are independent pubs with rich history and good food from chef-director Henry Harris, of Racine fame.

Mouthwatering websites

After several meetings the team, touring the sites (with a hard hat) and discussing the individual concepts for each pub, I created a distinctive brand voice across The Crown in Clerkenwell, Three Cranes in the City of London, The Hero in Maida Vale and The Coach in Chiswick. We chose to focus on the great beers, the delicious food and design. I also researched the unique history for each venue, whether the Samuel Pepys connection to the Three Cranes or the Dickensian backstory to The Coach, some of which found its way into Jay Rayner’s review in The Guardian.

Pub talk

Building lasting relationships with regulars is part and parcel of running a pub. To help, I designed and developed a series of newsletters for all Harcourt Inns pubs, using Henry’s distinctive voice as the anchor. It was also a good excuse to use some of the amazing photography and talk about the seasonal dishes and rotating beers available behind the bar.
